Do you think the quote "Those who can't do, teach" applies? What do you think about people who attempt to give advice but aren't "qualified" (in the loose sense, maybe not a PhD in the topic but at least basic experience)? For example, I know this guy who gives advice on running forums and stuff but he's never actually ha a successful forum and it really irks me. Whenever I call him out on it, he just claims "it's just my opinion though!" or "I don't need experience to give advice" or some bullshit.
What about you? What do you guys think?

I disagree with the quote entirely. If the person giving the advice or tutoring is a complete moron who can't do it their self, then they have no place telling other people how to do it. They're more than likely giving bad advice.

People that are not qualified can give advice.
For example when you watch sports are you ever like that guy could have done this and that would have been better.
Although sometimes it's annoying I think you can give advice occasionally.

That's a little understand since you're just watching a game (and what you're saying may not even work anyways), but this guy owns a site that gives advice, which basically screams "I'm qualified."

What I find really stupid is that teachers that are higher up can't teach as well as the teachers lower. The people doing their jobs don't get the "good teaching" medal.

Some teachers used to be qualified but technology kinda outpaces them :|

My mom is a teacher. She said that education sections of the university almost always rank among the lowest in test results, and that most of the teachers she knows came into teaching as a fall-back job, or something easier, or something that requires less qualifications, etc. Granted, she makes a point of teaching in the worst areas, so her peers aren't all that great examples.
