I still love XP, but I really like the new Windows 7 visuals. Here are a couple tricks you can use to make XP look like Windows 7 without using the transformation pack.

1) Download this. It's a visual theme for XP that makes it look like Windows 7. Unzip the file and install the theme.

2) The next part requires you to edit your Registry, so if you don't feel comfortable doing so, skip this step. We're going to make the taskbar show only icons, instead of text.

Type regedit in RUN dialog box and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor. Now go to following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

In right-side pane, create a new String value MinWidth and set its value to -255

Now reboot your machine. The taskbar will now only show icons.

3) Now download this file and unzip it. It's a group of Windows 7 cursors. If you don't already know how to install them, just go to Control Panel>Mouse>Pointers and hit browse. Then paste the unzipped file into the cursors directory, and load all the cursors individually.

Now your XP looks as close to Windows 7 as you can get without shelling out hundreds of bucks!

Oh great! I tried installing some complicated epic transformation pack.. and something made me uninstall it.. i forgot what..
