I heard that it was going to be announced at E3, but not that it was going to be released next year! I am going to be out of the country during E3 though... let's hope I can keep current with the news :D

Sounds pretty interesting. I will be curious to see what developments they make with their new console. It will have to be something pretty edgy to keep them competing with Sony and Microsoft.

Do we know when this device is going to launch? I feel like the Wii still has a lot of life in it so I was surprised this would happen so soon.

Well the Wii was released in 2006 -- Nintendo does need to compete with the HD market so the WiiU is only natural. Plus Microsoft and Sony are still playing catch-up with the whole motion control so Nintendo releasing their next console early is an amazing move on their part, IMO.

I believe the WiiU is set to release next year or so.

Lol yeah by then they'll probably release the ultra slim version of it for $100 cheaper.
