Here is Temerity's Post.

Systematic chaos is alright, definately not their best though. Ministry of Lost Souls is the best song from that album. Do you have Scenes from a Memory?

obviously. that's their "masterwork" album. my favorites from it are overture/deja vu, fatal tragedy, and home. haven't listened to it as intensively as i should but it's brilliant.

It's amazing to listen to the entire Scenes album straight, I have a much harder time picking favorite from that album because its the entire piece as a whole that I like. Even listening to five songs from it is amazing I can listen to it over and over and find new meaning each time.

My favorites are Strange Deja Vu, Beyond this Life, and Finally Free

the singer took a lot of getting used to. this isn't the best album for a new listener to start off on, i think. but it's great to work into.

Which album isn't the best starter?

And yeah LaBrie takes a little getting used too, but he did a good job with the voacals in Systematic Chaos.

really i don't think there's any one album that should get a new listener tuned in. this one isn't good at all because labrie sings so much and it makes them sound lame if you haven't heard anything.

i'd start them off with a selection rather than an album.

I started with Octavarium I'd say that's as good as any to start on. I think it'd be hard to start with their earlier stuff.

Overture 1928 or from Six Degrees?

And thanks to whomever spliced this topic, I was thinking of creating a separate topic myself.

oh, i guess i shouldn't refer to it as that. it was overture 1928. i like six degrees a lot the more i listen. opens with a bang and keeps going strong

What you stated pretty much holds true to all of Dream Theater's work for me. It constantly grows on me and most of their stuff was an acquired taste.

I've been listening to Don't Stop Believing by Journey - it's great. It's one of my favorite songs.

That is a very good song. Have you heard the new singer sing it too? he sounds sooo alike to the older one.

Sometimes I feel so sick at the state of the world I can’t even finish my second apple pie.

Woah one of my old threads is still here.

Right now I'm still into Progressive Metal and now Indie Rock.

I like some rap as well.
