Showtime Report:

Finished 2nd. I went 6-0 in the regular rounds but lost 1-2 to a sliver deck... lucky drawing.

1st round: Played a white/black Orzhova deck. Easy win. When I was explaining the combo, he just decided to let me do my thing... I don't like it when that happens, because then it feels like I'm cheating, when I'm not.

2nd round: Gah!! Can't remember the deck I played. I went 2-0, I know that. I'm going to keep thinking though.

3rd round: closest. game. ever. Comboed off easily first game, but second game, I cast Aluren but had to pass the turn. The guy managed to get me down to 1 life but I still managed to combo off the next turn and win. Sooooo close...

4th round: I had to mulligan down to five cards first game but I still think I won. But the card that killed me was harmonic sliver. guy drew two of them. if he had one, i would have won the second game easily.

I got 8 packs from the 2nd place finish. not bad, i got 8 packs for winning first last week.

although Syzygie did really good this week too, finished in the top 8. Would have probably finished higher if he had came earlier to showtime, because he played the first game of the first round but i think let it go 0-2.

Some guy (one of the better players at Showtime) wanted to play Roey after all of the tourney had finished. After the guy played about halfway through his dredge deck, we alerted the guy that Roey was new to the game and didn't know all of the cards, and the guy was like "whoa!! you're new?" I guess Roey played so well this tournament and last tournament, the guy thought that he was of a higher caliber. Not a bad thing at all, I guess it just means that Roey is catching onto Magic really, really fast.

My report:

Record: 2-0, 0-2, 2-0. Final Round: 0-2

The deck I played was Red Sligh. Burning creatures out of the way and swooping in with Mogg Fanatic, Slith Firewalker, Ball Lightning, and finishing them off with Fireblast and the like.

1st Round: 2-0
Played against an old Standard Fires of Yavimaya deck. It could have been better if it was Legacy-ized but it was good. Was able to beat it quickly though.

Second game was good as well, sided in some creature burn like Pyrokinesis though just in case.

2nd Round: 0-2
Boy, was this a close one. Faced a red/green aggro deck. Lost first game. He was at 11 life when he killed me when I had a Fireblast, Lightning Bolt in hand with creatures in play.

Sided in Pyrokinesis again but forgot to side in Flamebreak which would have been killer. Ugh.

3rd Round: 2-0
What a fun round. 1st game: 1st turn: Mogg Fanatic, 2nd Turn: Slith Firewalker, swing for 2. 18. 3rd turn: Mogg Fanatic was killed, but I play a Ball Lightning, swing for 8. He's at 10. 4th turn. He kills the Slith Firewalker but I play another Ball Lightning, which puts him at 4. I finish him off the next turn.

The second game was intense. We were both stuck at a couple lands, Pox controlling our lands, with my Shattering Spree killing his Crucible of Worlds so he was screwed too. He played Mishra's Factory, me killing it with Seal of Fire, ensuring that he was stuck at a couple of lands. Then he played Phrexyian Totem. He swung for five a couple of times, until I dealt four damage to it due to Cursed Scroll and Sudden Shock. That made him sacrifice all of his lands, which sealed the win for me with Jackal Pup.

I made it to the Top 12 and I was paired off with a dredge deck, which I lost twice to promptly. Oh well.

If you play mana leak while you opponent has 2 mana on untapped on the field can he play just play disenchant rather than having to pay 3?

Okay, so let's just recap here.

You play Grizzly Bears (just as example).

Opponent plays Mana Leak, in response, targeting Grizzly Bears.

Your question is if you can cast Disenchant instead of paying the 3 mana?

Yes, you can cast Disenchant, provided that there is an artifact or enchantment in play already.

However, that won't stop the Mana Leak from resolving and countering Grizzly Bears.
